The Ohio CATC (Cisco Academy Training Center) is formed in cooperation with Cisco, the Ohio Education Computer Network
(OECN) and the Cisco Networking Academy at Tri-Rivers Educational Computer Association (TRECA) .
The Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP) is a hierarchical program. Described from the bottom up, Local Academies
(LA's) teach the curriculum to their students. Regional Academies (RA's) support ten or more Local Academies by training
their teachers and providing ongoing programmatic support. The Regional Academies also act as mentors and provide
technical support to the Local Academies. Cisco Academy Training Centers (CATC) provide the same support for their
Regional Academies.
The Ohio Cisco CATC implements this innovative program with instructors in Colleges, Universities, Academic and Vocational
High Schools in a five-state region. The Ohio CATC is responsible for training and supporting Regional Academies in Ohio,
Kentucky, and Michigan.
The CATC staff at TRECA is comprised of Ohio Certified Teachers, CCNA's and CCAI's. Graduate credit from Ashland
University (Ohio) is available for courses taken at TRECA. In addition to conducting training in Ohio, instructors from the Ohio
CATC have traveled to Lousiville, KY, Oklahoma City, OK, and Little Rock, AR to conduct training for Regional Academies.
Some of our instructors have traveled as far as Delta Junction, Alaska to assist a Local Cisco Academy with a structured
wiring project.
