Introducing the Fundamentals of Network Security and
the Fundamentals of Wireless LANs curricula through
the Cisco Networking Academy Program.

The Fundamentals of Wireless LANs course teaches students to develop, implement and troubleshoot wireless networks. The Course focuses on the design, planning, implementation, operation and troubleshooting of wireless local area networks. It covers a comprehensive overview of technologies, security, and design best practices with particular emphasis on hands on skills in the following areas: Enterprise and local Wireless LAN setup & troubleshooting; 802.11a & 802.11b technologies, products & solutions; Site Surveys; Resilient WLAN design, installation & configuration; WLAN Security – 802.1x, EAP, LEAP, WEP, SSID; and Vendor interoperability strategies. This course will prepare students to achieve the Cisco Wireless LAN Support Specialist designation and prepare them for the Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) exam, the first of four exams for CWNE.

Prerequisites: Students should have completed CCNA Semester 2 of the Cisco networking academy program or have equivalent experience.

The Fundamentals of Network Security course teaches students to design and implement security solutions to reduce the risk of revenue loss and vulnerability. The Fundamentals of Wireless LANs is an introductory course about the design, planning, implementation, operation and troubleshooting of wireless networks.

The Fundamentals of Network Security course is designed to prepare students for certification in the security field. This course combines hands-on experience, instructor-led lectures and Web-based curriculum for students.

This is an intensive course that focuses on the overall security processes with particular emphasis on hands-on skills in security policy design and management, security technologies, products and solutions, firewall and secure router design, installation, configuration, and maintenance, AAA implementation using routers and firewalls, intrusion detection (IDS) implementation using routers and firewalls, and VPN implementation using routers and firewalls.

Fundamentals of Network Security helps prepare students for the Cisco Firewall Specialist certifications SECUR and CSPFA, which are also part of the CCSP (Cisco Certified Security Professional) certification.

Prerequisites: Students should be a CCNA or have completed Semester 4 of CCNA or have equivalent experience.
