Introducing the Fundamentals of Network Security and The Fundamentals of Wireless LANs course teaches students to develop, implement and troubleshoot wireless networks. The Course focuses on the design, planning, implementation, operation and troubleshooting of wireless local area networks. It covers a comprehensive overview of technologies, security, and design best practices with particular emphasis on hands on skills in the following areas: Enterprise and local Wireless LAN setup & troubleshooting; 802.11a & 802.11b technologies, products & solutions; Site Surveys; Resilient WLAN design, installation & configuration; WLAN Security 802.1x, EAP, LEAP, WEP, SSID; and Vendor interoperability strategies. This course will prepare students to achieve the Cisco Wireless LAN Support Specialist designation and prepare them for the Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) exam, the first of four exams for CWNE. This course combines hands-on experience, instructor-led lectures and Web-based curriculum for students. This is an intensive course that focuses on the overall security processes with particular emphasis on hands-on skills in security policy design and management, security technologies, products and solutions, firewall and secure router design, installation, configuration, and maintenance, AAA implementation using routers and firewalls, intrusion detection (IDS) implementation using routers and firewalls, and VPN implementation using routers and firewalls. Fundamentals of Network Security helps prepare students for the Cisco Firewall Specialist certifications SECUR and CSPFA, which are also part of the CCSP (Cisco Certified Security Professional) certification.
